August Football Course – Day 5

We’ve reached the end of the 2nd instalment of our, ‘Retro Football Week’s’ and what fun we had…

Throughout this week, we built on many things from the first week, which travelled through the journey of football. This started in the 1970’s and reached its end point today, where we looked at the most recent players & tournaments.

Both weeks went extremely well, with all dates well attended. This allowed for excellent interaction, discussion and contributions from the youngest of participants.

Adam said; “I thought of the idea at the beginning of the year and invested a lot of time and effort, into making this event as memorable as possible. I think this was defiantly the case, with the vast amount of football we covered in 2 separate weeks.

I’d like to make a special mention to our sponsors VRT, for their contribution in securing the fantastic shirts and USB sticks. I was delighted to have them with us, supporting the event”.

Our next course will be taking place in October (24th – 28th) with further details announced in due course.

August Football Course – Day 4

The weather took hold of all of our plan ‘A’ today, but we still managed to have an enormous amount of fun.
Instead of a usual day on the field, we instead moved into the new sports hall at St.Georges School and carried on from where we left off yesterday….

Today was a trip into the new millennium and everything year 2000 +! The wall of fame took shape, with all names released tomorrow – make sure you give this a look!

As we were inside, we also got the opportunity to play our retro football week masters competition, with all teams picked from the early 00’s!

Tomorrow, we will be concluding this 2nd instalment of this summers courses, with the all time greats and the highly sort after raffle!

August Football Course – Day 3

Today, we stepped into the 90’s and what a day it was! We started off with an introduction to our new ‘Dream Team’ incentive and how we’ll be using this in future courses. This was followed by some interesting discussions about a Luis Figo shirt, a 1995 completed sticker album and some Euro 96 programmes.

Being ‘closer’ to all of our players birth dates, there was plenty of interest in all of the conversation, while looking at some fantastic memorabilia.

Our challenge of 1000 football names on the wall of fame is certainly taking shape, with many contributions. We had names from Phil Stamp, to Jamie Redknapp, which were added. Tomorrow our focus shifts onto the 00’s, with the challenge getting even harder, but for sure enjoyment will be increasing.

So far, the week has been excellent and we’re looking forward to the next couple of days, to finish off in style!

August Football Course – Day 2

Onto day 2 of our ‘Retro Football Week’, and a trip to the 80’s! The lucky games that were picked today were from the World Cup of 86’, semi finals from the European Championships in 84’ and a big Italian cup tie, from 1988.

There was huge opportunity to showcase some memorabilia, with some ‘Shoot’ magazines and boots from a certain Berti Vogts, making an appearance.
Elsewhere, the players all contributed to the wall of fame task, with some great additions from the 80’s decade.

Tomorrow, we make a much anticipated trip to the 90’s!! There will be games from Euro 96, the Premier League and also the UEFA Cup taking focus, with (even) more memorabilia! We can’t wait for this one and what the players come armed with. We’ve had some great facts and stats to date, with more on the way!

August Football Course – Day 1

Today, saw the start of the August edition of our summer football courses, with an extremely busy schedule. We were able to cover a large chunk of our attention of the theme for the day – 70’s football – as well as, building our wall of fame and discussing plenty about the history of the game. There was of course, plenty of time to practice plenty of our learnings and take part in some of the worlds greatest matches. There was focus on a historical battle between the Netherlands and West Germany, as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Tomorrow, the focus shifts to the 80’s and a focus on the 1984 European championships, alongside some Italian football.

The coaching team are looking forward to it and continuing our journey through the theme of Retro Football!!

Retro Football Week – Day 5

Today, was the conclusion of our first Retro Football Week at St.Georges School. The day was scorching hot, on and off the pitch, where we were looking at all time greats! This included players, games and tournaments, with further focus on South America and the Copa America!

We also received a visit from John Grogan, who’s company VRT have sponsored the event. They provided shirts and USB sticks for all participants, which were greatly received. He was on hand to assist us with our end of week raffle and hand out some of our exclusive prizes. There were some very happy players, as we gave out;

A signed Christian Pullisic shirt from Chelsea
Bournemouth FC, signed team emblem
2 x mystery football boxes
1 Nike skill ball
Tons of match attax!!!

It was a superb week and one that we feel as organisers, was a huge success! The next edition will be taking place at the same venue (St.Georges School, Ascot), during the dates of Monday 22nd August – Friday 26th August. Register your interest now, via the holiday course tab!
