Football course debrief

The conclusion of our first football summer course, has taken place. This past week our players took part in plenty of fun and learning, with a focus on self reflection, where they regularly logged their progress against targets.

During the week we focused on all playing positions and the four moments of the game, with around 16 training sessions taking place, alongside theory workshops. All of the players were also treated to Q & A’s with professionals who helped them with their questions. We were lucky to have Andy Maciel and Paul Jones in attendance on Monday, who executed a session based on the Cruyff methodology. On Thursday, we had the pleasure of welcoming QPR’s Albert Adomah onto the course, who gave a great chat to all of the children about making it as professional, from non-league.

Adam said; “This course was the best one yet, with some great football on show. All of the children were very well behaved and took part in every minute. The theory workshops were extremely interactive and I was delighted to see children as young as 6 contributing. We had a strong focus on reflection and allowing the children to experience things first, before asking for their feedback. I hope that all of the children who attended, now practice this good work in the vicinity of their own homes and improve their game”.

Our next instalment of the summer football course will be taking place on Monday 23rd August – Friday 27th August, at St.Georges School, Ascot. For further information please email info@parktopro.com

Day 5 July football course

We came to the end of the first summer football course today, which has looked closely at, ‘reflecting on your own performance’.
All players received a book breaking down all football actions that assisted with this task,
alongside filling in reflection sheets on a daily basis.

The week has been a huge success with excellent performances from all players, with full participation in theory exercises to help learning. The highlight today was children detailing what football is, using action language. This showed there has been a very receptive group who have learnt at every opportunity.

Lastly, all coaches we’re delighted with the progression shown since Monday morning and are now looking forward to the next instalment at the end of August.

Thank you to all of our guests, players, parents, hosts & coaches who made the week a resounding success.

Day 4 of July football course

The sun was back shiny today for the 4th day of our first, summer football course. Today’s theme was transitioning to attack and how we may counter attack during open play.
The morning started with a recap of yesterday’s theme (defending) and we then progressed into today’s topic, with a wide range of activities.

This afternoon we were visited by a super VIP, QPR’s Albert Adomah, who came down and met all of the children. After this opening, there was an exclusive Q & A where our participants could ask Albert any question they liked. This was a great end to a day of fun & learning.

We would like to record our personal thanks to Albert, from all at Park to Pro, for giving up his time today.

Tomorrow we will be concluding part 1 of the summer course, with a showcase event!

Day 3 of July football course

Today saw our squads take part in exercises focusing on defending, with detail added for this phase of the game. Throughout the last 3 days all of the players have had the task of adding keywords about our theme of the day, to the Park to Pro whiteboard. There was an impressive response today with over 25 descriptive words, that detail what defending is and how we do it.

During the afternoon there were a couple of showers that disrupted our training time, but we made full use of this opportunity by designing our own game plans, that we’re put to the test later on in the afternoon. There was some fantastic football on show, with enjoyment seen throughout.

Tomorrow the focus will be on transitioning to attack – when you regain the ball after defending.

Day 2 of July football course

Day 2 of our football course has now come to a close, with a focus on transitioning to defending, after ball possession is being lost. Throughout the morning our coaches led some great training sessions consisting of this moment in the game, with plenty of learning had. Our Veo camera captured some great moments, with some footage available soon.
Throughout the day the children had a task of adding key words to the whiteboard, that described what they had learnt. This group task was widely accepted by all attendees and it created lots of debate.
During the afternoon we were slightly disrupted by a couple of showers, but on the whole, the day was able to go ahead as planned.

Tomorrow we will be looking at defending, when the opposition have the ball.
