Park to Pro Panna Arena!

Park to Pro Panna Arena!

We’re delighted to announce that we now have a ‘Panna Arena’, that will be available to hire from May.

The sport originates from Holland and is widely seen across towns/cities in Europe. The rules of Panna are simple…1 vs 1…3 minutes, the most goals takes victory. BUT….if you get a ‘Panna’, it’s game over and you win automatically.

What’s a Panna you ask? A ‘Panna’ is where you put the ball through your opponents legs, otherwise known as a nutmeg. The word in Dutch for a nutmeg is Panna, hence it’s unfamiliar name!

There are various ways in which you can put the ball through an opponents legs and it isn’t always the most obvious. Using different ball manipulation moves could enable you to create the necessary space, in which you can be successful. There was a famous advert many years ago that Nike produced, using many world class football players, in which they battled for victory in the Panna cage.

Adam said, “I’ve been trying to purchase a Panna arena for a long time and it came with a number of challenges. COVID19 didn’t help and when Brexit was confirmed, it’s been a very tough task in getting items into the UK. I’m delighted to now be in possession of this piece of new kit, which I’m sure the community will enjoy!”.

All the children at our Easter Football Course, will gain exclusive access in using the arena next week, with further plans announced in due course.

If you’re interested in hiring the arena for an event or special occasion, please email enquiries@parktopro.com.

Guest Announcement

Guest Announcement

After last week’s news of our first guest announcement, we’re delighted to announce our 2nd guest, for the Easter Football Course.

Ex-Reading attacker, Nicholas Bignall, will be joining us for a Q and A session, as well as outlining his journey into the professional game. Unfortunately, Bignall suffered a serious injury that ended his career, but he had many great experiences up to that point, playing for a number of league clubs.

Interestingly, Bignall got scouted at a young age, but didn’t actually sign for Reading until he was a little older. He’ll be explaining as to why this happened and the process he went through, when he visits us. Again, he was playing grassroots football, starting in the Park and made it as a pro’.

Adam said, “I’ve known Nicholas for some time and he’s still a great professional to this day. I’m sure he’ll have some great advice for all the players and tips to improve their game. I’m delighted he’s coming in and joining what promises to be a great week”.

If you would like to attend the course, spaces are limited so register now via our, ‘Holiday Courses’ option, found under the, ‘For the Player’ tab.

Upon signing his first professional contract last year, he has been in and around the first team and is true example of hard work paying off. Coach Mentorship update

Coach Mentorship update

In November, 8 coaches started the Park to Pro football coach mentorship programme, which has been an ongoing success.
Throughout the course there has been 1 topic per month delivered to delegates, with a live interactive session after this, to discuss things further.

Park to Pro owner, Adam Clark, said; “The delegates have been excellent throughout and have improved during the process. During the bleakest months of lockdown, we continued to meet virtually and discuss all things football. It was great to keep these discussions going and to keep improving, for the anticipation of football returning.”

The delegates have studied the theory side of football, as well as taking part in some analysis exercises. By changing the topic each month, the aim is to keep interest levels high and further learning across many areas of the game.

So far there have been 2 guest appearances for the coaches to learn from and to ask questions too. We’ve had a former English FA Coach Educator in attendance, as well as a coach/analyst from the Portuguese Primeira Liga (Portugal’s top flight league). Up next we have a coach joining us who currently works with a neighbouring national team.

The course is now at it’s mid-point with further updates released soon!
